Pat Myself On The Back

Today is call for celebration once more. I noticed I have broken the 100 mark of followers (though who knows how many of those early followers are still checking in). I cannot believe I have actually amassed a following this large, but of course I'm pleased. Okay, pleased is way too boring a word. Ecstatic is more like it. I have been cramming my brain over the last couple days trying to come up with a fun contest to celebrate, and of course my muse is grumping in the corner and refuses to cooperate. Something about "contests have nothing to do with writing, dammit". That little gremlin won't help at all, so this may be a quiet celebration.

In any event, I shall take a moment to say "Woohoo" Homer Simpson style. Okay, celebration over.

For those of you who have stuck with me and keep coming back, I truly appreciate your support and participation. I've been a bit lax lately (yes, I know) in my content, so I'll try to ramp that up a bit. When I first started this blog, I was here every day adding new things. I'll do my best to get back to that level of activity.

It's interesting that when I first started this, the blog was for me. It was so I could have somewhere to get things down on paper (virtual, anyway). It has since evolved however, into an interactive exercise where I get to muse along with all of you. There are so many talented and intelligent people who stop by to comment, and I've even had some neat experiences interviewing authors. I got to interview Jamie Ford! Does it get better than that? Well yes, if I were able to wrangle an interview with Stephen King maybe (no offense Jamie). But all in all, this has been so much fun.

I have tried to acknowledge everyone else's successes (those that I follow), but if you have something to celebrate, drop me a comment here. I'll put up a post (or edit this one) so everyone can celebrate along with you. Tell me all about your own successes so we can party it up!

Hey Eric,

Congrats on all the followers! I consider myself to be one of your early(ish) followers and still read the posts loyally. Thanks for all you give back to we writer folk.

For success I'm happy to report that I signed with Inkwell Management and my manuscript is on submission. Hopefully more news of success in the near future :)

Not much to celebrate today, but I am quietly celebrating being alive and healthy and very inspired by my own muse.

Mostly I wanted to say congrats on the milestone!

Congrats on 100 followers! That's awesome!

I read all of your posts, even if I don't comment. I'm working on that. :)

Well, a Homeresque Woohoo to you, Eric. That's pretty exciting news! I like your posts because they often get me to think without giving me a headache.

This isn't my good news, but something that I'm attending, so I thought I should pass it along. The 2009 PEN Center USA Emerging Voices Fellows are giving their final reading tonight. I was lucky enough to be a fellow last year, so I'm proud of all of this year's writer's for making it through the intensive program.

Congratulations on 100 followers. That's great. I'm pretty new to your blog myself. My own personal celebration today is that an editor requested my full manuscript. Also, I get to have a big barbecue tonight at my house with a bunch of my writer friends. Yeah!

Uber-congrats on the followers! Don't you love when something you don't think will take off does? Love it, love it, love it. :D

My personal woohoo today is nothing special, but I'm headed home on Friday after a long summer in Florida. I can't wait. :) It's not exactly writing-related, but I felt like sharing...lol.

Haha, cool! I guess I'm #99. I've got one question for you though...

How in the heck do you manage to write and also play World of Warcraft?! Not to mention fatherhood.

Really, what's your secret? I've pretty much had to give up my old love of video games in order to be more productive with my writing.

Andrea - So glad you have stuck by me on this journey. Congrats on your successes. Let us all know how it goes.

Tere - Thank you very much. Don't worry, celebrations come along when we least expect them.

Abby - Don't worry if you don't get the chance to comment as much. I know you're out there :)

Davin - Thank you very much. Luck had nothing to do with your being a fellow. You're a talented writer that I'm honored to be acquainted with.

Angie - Welcome to the blog, if I haven't said it before. Congrats on your full request, and have fun at the bbq.

Jenna - Thanks Jenna. It's been great so far. Glad you're on your way back, and here's hoping you make it back safely.

Christopher - Yes, you are #99, which I haven't said thank you for. I'm glad you are stopping by. As for WoW, it's something I probably need to kick to the side. Unfortunately it's also one of the ways I spend time with my boys, so as of yet it hasn't been something I've been willing to sacrifice. I may have to limit that however, as I'm fully aware of how it's impacting my writing. No secret here, just some habits that probably need changing. :)
