One thing I mentioned yesterday was that I hate revising because it bugs me when I can't find the right word. When you find the right word, everything flows and you feel it. It's like an electric current running up your hands and arms from the tip of your pen. Today's Friday though, so I'm not going to dive into a deep discussion about this. Instead I'm going to share a song and video with you that completely personifies the idea of choosing the right word.
Can you imagine how much work had to go into crafting the lyrics for that song? That would have seriously driven me crazy. It's one of my favorite all time songs though. If you've got any other examples of something like this, feel free to share in the comments. And have a great weekend everyone.

REM's It's the End of the World as we Know It comes close!
Alex - Great choice. I forgot about that one.
Yeah, sometimes I get stuck for days looking for the right word or phrase. Unfortunately, I tend to do it in my first draft instead of waiting until revisions. It makes the writing go slow, but then revisions are easier.
Angie - I know the feeling. Sometimes I feel like I'm the slowest writer in the world.
REM is awesome Alex.
Eric, I know what you mean about that search for the right word. When speaking I frequently trip over myself and then try to think of the word. It usually hits me about two days later when I no longer need it.
Not sure what happened to my first attempt, but what I said was, I love this kind of fast-paced lyrics. You are so right about finding just the right word. I have a thesaurus, OneLook: http://www.onelook.com/?w=*:bang&ls=a
You can put in a short phrase, like three words and it will find the right word, most of the time.
Good luck.
Great fun! It made my day, thanks for giving me a toe tapping moment Eric.
Just one word can set me off scribbling notes. I heard someone say, buttons and I got a name for a shop in my novel. A whole chapter was written on account of that word.
Fast-paced lyrics always amaze me. G 'n' R. 311.
And remember "We Didn't Start the Fire" by Billy Joel. All names, good flow, historically and chronologically accurate.
Just relax. The right words will come. :-)
Not sure what the name of the song is, but the Barenaked Ladies had a song like that, although not that extreme.... "Chickety china, the chinese chicken"
Rem would come in around there too... I still get tongue tied, and I swear I've spent about four hours total over the last few years trying to learn those lyrics...
and a step down would be Billy Joel's "we didn't start the fire".
